Frequently Asked Questions
The Verona Public Library Foundation is comprised of five community members serving 2-year terms. We work in conjunction with the Library Director and the Library Board of Trustees to identify and prioritize the Library’s fundraising needs. We pursue fundraising opportunities to meet those needs. The Foundation raises money to support programming, enhance resources, create an endowment, and fulfill special projects that exceed our municipally-funded budget.
Since 1984, The Friends of Verona Public Library support public awareness of the Library and provide an annual financial gift following the Book Drive. The Friends support programs for children, teens and adults in addition to providing the funds for the Museum Pass Program. The Friends of Verona Public Library use a membership model to fundraise for the Library.
The Board of Trustees for Verona Public Library is the official body that proposes and oversees the Library’s annual operating budget, and sets its policies and procedures. Each Board Member is a Verona resident who is appointed to the Board for a 5-year term.
Your taxes provide for the Library’s day-to-day operating budget. Your taxes keep the lights on. However, we need additional funds to offer the programming and resources you and your neighbors deserve. The Foundation will fund new programs, technology, and an endowment. Meanwhile, your tax dollars will take care of Library staffing, electricity, heat, general maintenance, and book purchases. We are grateful for your contribution to the Verona Public Library Foundation.
